In November 1966, Walt was diagnosed with lung cancer and later died of Circulatory Collapse. To this day, his legacy lives on as Disney continues to grow and live through the hearts of many.

Walt Disney World, located in Florida, opens as the first full-scale vacation resort and the largest privately funded project known to man. It begins with one theme park, Magic Kingdom, two resort hotels and 43 sq. miles of additional land and water space.
