    First Steamboat
    The first steamboat made the very first trail August 22, 1787 on the Delaware River. This was made by John Fitch. He built a larger vessel and carried people from Philadelphia and Burlington, New Jersey.
  • Robert Fulton

    Robert Fulton
    Robert Fulton created his first steamboat after the death of John Fitch. He was known as, "father of steambost navigation". Then Fulton had a conflict and began to make weapons and things of that such.
  • First Trade

    First Trade
    By 1810 they had started to carry goods to and from other countries. The bad thing was the speed on these boats depended on how the current acted so there was no telling on when the goods would get there. This is when the steamboat gained popularity.
  • The First Voyage

    The First Voyage
    The first voyage was on the MIssissippi from New Orleans to Pittsburgh. From here on steamboats began to dominate the rivers. People were amazed by the steamboat because of how people made trips in 25 days and then got to 8 days.
  • Snags

    Snags
    By 1829 there became a big problem for the steamboats wiht snags. If the steambat hit a snag then it messed the whole boat up. It was so bad that it caused boats to sink. This was fixed when somebody made the snag steamboat.
