    Thurgood Maeshall Brown. Vs. Board  of Education
    Brown. Vs. Board of Education was one of the most important cases of the 20th century. On May 17, 1954 the Supreme Court ruled that the separte educational facilities was unequal. The Lawsuit was filed by a group of black parents in Topeka, Kansas. They were angered by the fact that their children were forced to attend an all black school. The schools violated the protection clause of the 14th amendment.

    In Montgomery, Alabamma on December 1, 1955, Mrs. Parks took her designated place of the bus for colored people. She was just getting off from a long days work as a seamstress. At the time blacks on the city bus was required to give up their seat to a white person if commanded. Rosa was ordered by the driver to give up her seat to a few white persons who choose to stand but she refused. She stated that her refusal wasnt because she was physically tired but because she was tired of giving in.

    Civil Rights Act Passed
    This Act ended segregation in public places. It banned employment discrimnation on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or nationial origin. This is considered one of the crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement. It was signed into law by Lyndon B Johnson. In just a few years congress expanded the act and also passed additional legislation. It was aimed at bringing equality to African Americans like Voting Rights Act of 1965

The amazingly large crowd was filled with both whites and blacks who supported the civil rights leader and movement. The large crowd gathered around lincoln memorial in Washington DC. MLK Jr speech brought to light the issues already at hand and also influenced the Federal government to take a more direct action.

    In Sep. 15, 1963 a huge bomb exploded during sunday school at 16th Street Baptist church. This church was prodominantly black congregation. It also served as a meeting place for civil rights leaders. Sadly four young girls were killed ad many other injured. This incident outraged many and a violent clash between protesters and police broke way. This brough National attention to the hard fight and struggle of the civil right for African American.

    Malcm X rejected integratio and nonviolence. He used words of the wise from Elijah Muhammad's Black Muslims. While doing so he was tragicly shot and killed by black opponents. In 1964 Malcom was force to leave the Nation of Islam becuase of his insensitive comments regarding the assination of President John F Kennedy.

    John Lewis Selma, Alabama
    On March 7, 1965 John Lewis and Hosea Williams led a march from Selma, Alabama. After crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge , Marchers were attacked by state troopers and enraged bistanders. Lewis was beaten so badly that he suffered from a fractured skull.This day was labeled as "Bloody Sunday". This wasn't the end for Lewis. In 1981 he ran for office winning a seat on the Atlanta City Counsil.

    On april 4,1968 in Memphis Tennesse MLK Jr was shot and killed ion his hotel balcony. His assination led to an outpour of anger, and a mourning cry among black americans. He was assinated by James Earl Ray. This made was for an equal housing bill that would be the last significant legislative achievement of the civil rights movment. James confessed to the muder the following march. Ray later died in prison on April 23, 1998

    Allen Bakke was denied admission to UC Davis medical School . Even thought his grades and scores were higher than most minority applicant admittted, he was denied becuase of color.On this day the supreme court ruled that racial quotas are illegal. Allen Bakke was a white male who applied twice to this school.
