    Troubled life

    Ignatius would engage in swordplay and gambling, causing troubles for himself and his family. This caused his family to move from their home.
  • May 17, 1521

    Shot in the leg with a cannonball

    This had severely wounded one leg, and completely broke another. The doctors said he had to prepare for death, his legs could not heal. They had to break his legs again and again and then set it in order to try get them to heal, but it never worked.

    Legs healed

    His legs, who the doctors had said would not heal - and Ignatius would have to prepare for death - had healed, on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

    Went to school for Young Boys for Latin

    St. Ignatius was ignorant in Latin, so he went to a school for Young Boys to learn Latin in the middle of Spain.

    Went to the University of Alcala

    This is when he went to the University of Alcala. His zeal got him in trouble many times there. He would gather people, young and old, and teach them how to pray. He would also teach those people, and explain, the Gospel to them.

    Visits Rome

    Ignatious had asked all his companions to come to Rome to talk about their future. After many weeks for prayer and discussion, they came to a conclusion - they would form a new religious order with the Pope's consent.

    Became Leader of the Jesuits

    On this day, St. Ignatius renewed his vows and became the leader of the Jesuits. As his Fransiscan Confessor had told him 'It is the will of God, you must'. He said this because the vote was unanimous, except Ignatius' own.

    St. Ignatious died of Roman Fever on the 31st of July 1556.

    St. Ignatious was cannonized on the 12th of March 1622, by Pope Gregory XV.
