    Public Law 94-142 Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    This law mandates that all handicapped children should have a free public education and all special services if needed; it also mandates that each child has an individualized education plan (IEP). In addition, each child should have an individualized family services plan (IFSP) where it has detailed information about the child's needs and services that need to be provided in order to help each individual with special needs.(Henley, Ramsey, & Algozzine, 2009)

    Public Law 101–476, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
    This was an amendment to the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EHA), now it was updated to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), where the term handicap was changed to disability; it expanded related services and mandated an Individual Education Program (EIP) for each child that has any type of disability starting Early childhood years throughout adolescence. (Henley, Ramsey, & Algozzine, 2009)
  • No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    This law gives authorization to several federal education programs that are administered by each state. It also, mandates that students with disabilities are to have standardized testing and specific goals to check on children’s progress in certain areas such as: reading, math, and science.(Henley, Ramsey, & Algozzine, 2009)
