PARC was a challenge to laws that prohibited the exclusion of students who suffer from mental disabilities. These children were allowed to attend school with other children and attend special education programs that tailored to their needs. -

The Court ruled in favor of Tatro stating that catheterization was a “related service” and not a “medical service.” This ruling allowed schools to be accessible to all handicapped students. -
The Handicapped Children's Protection Act allows children to be guaranteed an appropriate education that allows a service plan to be made in accordance to the families and child's need. -
The American with Disabilities Act protects and ensures those with disabilities will not receive nondiscriminatory treatment in all aspects of life. -
The No Child Left Behind Act ensured all students could meet academic standards in the areas of Math and Reading. -
This act protected qualified individuals from discrimination based on their disability. -
The Supreme Court ruled that schools must provide more than a "minimum" education for students with disabilities. Instead, the schools had to provide opportunities for students with disabilities that allowed progress to be made in accordance to the law.
