  • Child Find--NH Rules - Ed 1105

    http://www.childfindidea.org/overview.htmChild Find is a component of IDEA requiring states to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, age birth to 21, who are in need of early intervention or special education services (IDEA Regulations, 34 C.F.R. section 300.220). Schools are responsible for annually publicizing parental and student rights under the law and take the steps to identify and locate chidren with disabilities (Yell, 2012).
  • Referral--NH Rules - Ed 1106

    The LEA shall provide the parents with a written notice of any referral other than one initiated by the parent, in accordance with NH Rule Ed 1107.01(b). Additionally, the Procedural Safeguards Hanbook must be provided to parents upon inital referral (NH Procedural Safeguards for Special Education, Introducation).
  • Disposition of Referral--NH Rules - Ed 1108

    http://www.nhspecialed.org/disposition.shtmlhttp://www.nhspecialed.org/referral.shtml"Within 15 calendar days (this counts weekends, holidays, school vacations, snow days, etc.) from the date a school receives a referral for special education, they must pull together the Individual Education Program (IEP) Team and conduct a meeting" (PIC, 2008). The IEP team will provide the parent with a written decision.
    The Disposition of Referral is the first IEP meeting. The IEP team will decide what next steps need to be taken such as evaluation, or creating a Section 504 plan.
  • Evaluation--NH Rules - Ed 1107

The IEP team needs parental consent to conduct evaluations. Once consent is received, the IEP team has 45 days to conduct evaluations.
  • Evaluation Meeting with Eligibility Determination

    http://www.nhspecialed.org/eligibility.shtmlThe IEP team has thirty days from the time a child is determined eligible for special education to conduct a meeting and begin writing the initial IEP. The IEP team members are identified in the NH Rules 1103 34 CFR 300.321. Eligibility is determined by NH Rules §300.306 Determination of eligibility and in compliance with IDEA 20 U.S.C. § 1401 (a) and 34 C.F.R. §300.7(a)(1)-(b)913). catergories of disabilities
  • IEP--written notice

    According to NH Rules, parents are to be given 10 days written notice before a meeting (parents may waive this advance notice when warranted). Parents then have 14 days to review an IEP. Meetings for manifestation determination reviews for disciplinary reasons require only a 5 day written notice. The IEP must include components listed uner NH Rules ED 1109.01 CFR 300.320.
  • IEP development and approval--NH Rules - Ed 1109

"Within 30 days after your child is found eligible for special education, the IEP Team meets to develop an individualized education program (IEP) for your child. The initial IEP does not become effective until it is agreed upon and signed by you. The IEP team includes specific required components listed in the NH Rules Ed 1109.01 and 1109.03" (NH Special Education Procedural Safeguards Handbook, 2011).
  • Placement--NH Rules - Ed 111

    http://www.nhspecialed.org/placement.shtmlThe IEP Team determines the least restrictive environment (LRE) in which the child can receive the special education and related services described in his/her IEP as identified in NH Rules part ED 1111. IDEA also requires students with disabilities to be educated with peers without disabilities to the maximum extent appropriate under IDEA Regulation 34 C.F.R. section 300.550[b][1].
  • Progress Monitoring--NH Ed 1109.06

  • Annual review of IEP

    Once a child has an IEP, it is reviewed/revised in an IEP Team meeting at least annually. The IEP must be mutally agreed upon and in place at the start of each school year.

    Re-Evaluation occurs every three years.
