  • Helen Keller Went blind

    Helen Keller became blind and deaf due to an illness as a child; this lead up to her eventually being a strong advocate for people with disabilities
  • Helen Keller got her Degree

    She was the first person with deafblindness to earn a degree, she was also the first to earn an honorary degree from Harvard
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Laid the foundation for a later law (1975) to be passed in the education system
  • Elementary and secondary Education Act

    Guaranteed funding for special education centers
  • Lanterman Act

    Develops the rights for people with disabilities and some of their service systems needed from family to family
  • Mills v. Board of Education

    They fought for the right of students with disabilities to be educational entities, no matter the cost of their accommodations.
  • Rehabilitation Act of 1973

    This prohibits discrimination of any and all disabled bodies in any federally funded programs.

    Gave free appropriate public education to every child with a disability in the country

    This law secured the fundamental ideals, and rights to ensure equal access to public education
