    Columbus' first voyage to America

    In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. He told of a new route to Asia, and sparked the flame of exploration that followed. What he really found was America.
  • Cortes' voyage

    Cortes' voyage

    He conquered the Aztec empire in Mexico after he disobeyed orders and went there. He found 99 tons of gold and sparked exploration in Texas.
  • Pineda's voyage

    Pineda's voyage

    Pineda mapped the gulf coast for the first time. he was the first to set foot in Texas and was nearly blinded by Cortes. He died in Texas due to indian attacks.
  • DeVaca's voyage

    DeVaca's voyage

    DeVaca was not the leader of his expidition. His leader was Narvaez. DeVaca is known because he kept a journal of his voyage. He was meant to occupy the land around texas and look for gold. He eventually told of the 7 cities of gold and sparked exploration.
  • DeVaca descovers Texas

    DeVaca descovers Texas

    DeVaca shipwrecked on Texas. He was with alot of men, most of which would die. He met many tribes including Yguazes and Avavares indians. He became a well treated medicine man. He eventually found more Spanish and left Texas in 1536.

    Fray Marcos' journey

    Fray Marcos was sent to find the seven cities of gold. He eventually found a village that looked to him like gold, but in reality it was fools gold in mud that was made into adobe homes. He reported seeing the city, but he didn't enter because his companion, Estiban, was killed there.

    Moscoso's expadition

    Moscoso was origionally led by a man named De Soto. When he died, Moscoso took over. He found the Mississipi river and mapped the coast. He thought Texas was very bad, and sailed to Mexico City instead of walking or riding horses.
  • Coronado's expidition
    Jan 1, 1540

    Coronado's expidition

    Coronado searched for Cibola and Quivera, finding no gold at either. He was guided to Quivera by "The Turk" and straingled him, then put him in a grave he dug himself after they found no gold there. His journey was importaint because it stoped exploration in Texas.
