    Cortes conquered parts of Mexico such an Mexico City, Hispaniola, and Cuba. He conquered the Aztecs. This is important because he brought 99 tons of gold and maid Spain want to explore the new world more because of the riches he found.

    He is known for mapping the Gulf Coast. This is important because he mapped new land so that De Vaca could explore the Florida to Mexico coast.

    De Soto was the original leader but he died of a fever at the Mississippi river. After he died Moscoso took over. He reported that you shouldn't go back because there was no gold, harsh land, and the indians are mean.

    The purpose of the journey was to explore the land to the north. Esteban was slaughtered by the indians. Fray Marcos reported that there was a golden city.

    He searched for the cities of Cibola and Quivera. Fray Marcos was the guide to Quivera. Fray Marcos vanished because they did not discover golden cities. The importance of this Journey was that Coronado convinced Spain to not go back to the new world for 150 years.
