  • Sputnik 1

    1. The first satellite that went into space. It's name was Sputnik 1, sent by the Russians. It orbited the Earth for 57 days before gravity pulled it back into the atmosphere and it burned up.
  • Period: to

    1960's

  • Project Mercury

It orbited around the Earth. It made John Glenn the first U.S citizen to orbit the Earth.
  • Period: to

    1970's

  • Pioneer 10

It went to Jupiter and sent back photos. It became the first prope to encounter an outer planet.
  • Period: to

    1980's

  • The Voyager 2

It flew by the outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and took pictures of Neptune.
  • Magellan

Magellan imaged craters, lava domes, and great rifts, or cracks on the surface of Venus.
  • Period: to

    1990's

  • Period: to

    2000

  • Meteor Shower

There was a meteor shower from Halley's Comet over the week of May 2, 2000.
  • Next 40 years

I think that space technologies will become less because there are already so many satellites and probes out there.
  • Period: to

    2010's

  • How Spacecrafts will Change

I think that the more work people put into space technologies, the better spacecrafts will be. I don't think they will risk as many lives with the new technologies.
  • Period: to

    2020's

  • Changing Space Instruments

I think that with more students studying space that they might create better instruments for looking at planets from a distance, like the telescope.
  • Period: to

    2030's

  • Discoveries

I think that in 40 years we won't have flying cars, or be able to live on the moon, but we might find water on more planets and signs of life by using new technologies.
