    The USA launches the satelitte Explorer 1, into space. This was the US's way of joining the Space Race.

    The National Aeronautics and Space Admidistration was started by America. Also known as NASA.

  • Yuri Gargarin is first spaceman.

    Yuri Gargarin became first man in space when Soviek launched the Vostok 1.

  • Apollo is announced.

    John F. Kennedy announces that soon Apollo 1 will be launched into space.

  • John Glenn orbits.

    America launches John Glenn into space in the spaceship, Friendship 7.

  • Apollo lands.

    Apollo 1 lands on the Moon and a crew of 24 explore the moon.

  • Team Up

    Countries join together to plan the creation of the ISS (International Space Station),

  • Space Life Style

    Valeri Polyakov becomes the holder of the record for longest amount of time spent in space. This is the longest anyone has ever lived in space.

  • Mir Deorbits.

    The Soviek space station Mir falls out of orbit.
