link/Venera 3 was launched from a Tyazheliy Sputnik (65-092B) towards the planet Venus. The mission of this spacecraft was to land on the Venusian surface. This worried America becuase it showed that we were far behind in this race. -

link/Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" become the first people to step foot on the moon. Though Astronaut Michael Collins didn't step foot on the moon, he is still greatly appreciated for going to the moon.
