Sputnick 1 launch
Rusha launched a satellite that was called Sputnik 1. Sputnik was the first satellite ever launched into space. The Rushans used Sputnik 1 to watch over America adn see what they where doing. Sputnik 1 would take pictures of America then send the pictures all the way back to Rusha. Sputnik helped Rosha kinda win because Rusha could see when the perfect time to attak was and the Americans didnt know what it was. -
Dog in Space
Laika the dog was sent into space to research what happens when a animal goes into space. Laika didnt make it back to earth becasue she over heated and ended up dying. Laika was very important because she helped with the research on what happens when a dog goes into space. -
First U.S. satellite successfully lauched
This satelitte was called explorer one and was launched months after Rusha sent out Sputnik 1. THe army sent out this satellite with NASA's help. This was very signifigant because it was the first successfully launched satellite that the U.S. sent out. -
Monkey in Space
After sending Laika the dog into space and it dying they figured that since it was just from over heating then they should try another animal. NASA sent Albert the monkey into space so they can research biological affects of space travel on animals. It was very exciting for everyone in America. Albert made it to space and proved that not just humans can go into space but also animals. -
First man to orbit the earth
A Rushan named Yuri Gagarin was sent into space after getting picked in training. The Rushans sent him into space to prove that they where better and smarter. -
First U.S. man to orbit the earth
John Glen was a man that was chosen in training to go into space and orbit around the earth. They sent John Glen into space so they can prove to the Rushans that they can do the same things as them. This was very signifigant because they actually could send somebody into space. -
First women in space
A women named Valentine Tereshkova was launched into space by Rushans. She was the first women to ever be in space. Rusha was trying to beet america in everything so they decided to send a women into space so they can be first. The signigance is that they built a whole spaceship just to get the first women into space before america and then ended up succeeding. -
First space walk
Rusha sent a man named Alexey Leonov into space to be the first person to walk in space. They connected him to one end of a wire then hooked the other end of the wire to the rocket. The signifigance of this is that they figured out how to get a person into space and float there without being in a roket. -
First U.S. spacewalk
Ed white was the first american in space . He stayed in space for 23 minutes and was able to control where he goes with a big computer type thing on his chest. THe signifigance is that the U.S. actually proved to Rusha thatthey where equal and that they could get somebody in space to. -
Gemini 7
Frank Borman and Jim Lovell created the ship called Gemini 7. It was a manned spacelift in NASA's Gemini program. It was the fourth manned Gemini flight. The signifigance is that it was a Gemini that was the twentieth spacelift and spent 13 2/3 days in space. -
Apolo 8
Frank Borman, James Lovell and William Anders where sent to the moon on a spaceship called Apollo 8. This spaceship brought these three people to the moon and back. This spaceship stopped on the moon and they got to walk around on the moon. The signifigance is that it was the second spacecraft to bring humans to the earth and back. -
First man on the moon
Neil Armstrong was the first man to step foot on to the moon. While Neil Armstrong was there he put an american flag on it and collected rocks and sand to take back and research. The signifigance was that NASA actually got to the moon before Rusha did.
