Space Industry

  • Sputnik 1

    Sputnik 1
Sputnik 1 was the first artificial earth satellite on space which was launched by Russia on 4th October 1957. this project ended on 4th of January 1958 because it would have to be planned on that date. There was a space race between America and Russia and Russia won the race which was a part of the cold war and it had to be fast forwarded. So Sputnik 1 burned three months after it was launched.
  • Luna 9

    Luna 9
Luna 9 was an unnamed space mission of the Soviet Union's Luna Program and it launched on .31st January 1966. The Luna 9 space craft became the first space craft to achieve a soft landing on the moon and transmit photographic data to Earth from the surface of another planetary body on 3rd of February 1966. Last contact was made on the 6th o February 1966. This was on the space race with America which was part of the cold war.
  • Apollo 11

    Apollo 11
Apollo 11 craft was launched on 16th July 1969. they returned to earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on 24th of July 1969. the mission was to launch and flight to lunar orbit and it was the first time man landed on moon.
  • Apollo 13

    Apollo 13
Was the seventh manned mission in the Apollo space Program and the third intended to land on the moon. the craft was launched on 11, April 1970 at 1:13pm. from the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida. but the lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen taken exploded two days later and it came back to earth on 17th April 1970. the mission was to explore the Fra Mauro Formation or Fra Mauro Highlands and study it in specific area.
  • SKYLAB

    SKYLAB
Skylab was the first project of its kind which launched on May 14 1973 at 1:30pm in order to perform scientific experiments of earth, the sun and other subjects on board. the mission ended on July, 11th, 1979. This project took approximately six years to be completed.
  • Voyager 1

    Voyager 1
It was originally designed to observe our asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn and Titan. Voyager 1 launched September 5, 1977. The mission was extended after these goals were met. Voyager 1 was the 3rd man made object to reach escape velocity. On August 25, 2012 Voyager left the heliosphere and was the first spacecraft to enter interstellar space. It is about 21,065,000,000 km away from earth. It is believed that the end date of the Voyager mission will be in 2025.
  • Cassini-Huygens

    Cassini-Huygens
Cassini-Huygens was launched in October 15, 1997 by NASA. Due to the limited proportion systems of that time Cassini had to use the gravity wells created by Venus and Jupiter to assist it in reaching its destination. Cassini was designed to analyze Saturn as an orbiter and Huygens was designed to analyze Titan as a lander. Cassini was decommissioned by burning it up in Saturn's atmosphere on September 15,2017. Quality was constrained because Cassini-Huygens had to survive the vacuum of space.
  • International Space Station (ISS)

    International Space Station (ISS)
International Space Station, also referred to as (ISS), initially launched into orbit in November 28th, 1998 and it is currently the largest man made body in low orbit earth orbit and it can be seen with naked eyes from certain areas. the ISS is used for microgravity and environment research laboratory where crew members perform test in meteorology, astronomy, physics, human biology and biology. This project is still to be used until 2028.
  • Juno

    Juno
Juno was the second spacecraft created under NASA’s new frontiers program. Juno was launched on August 05, 2011. Juno’s objectives were to analyze the atmosphere of Jupiter, looking at its oxygen and nitrogen levels. Juno also measured Jupiter’s magnetic field and magnetosphere to understand its internal structure and its aurora on its northern pole. The current date for disposal within Jupiter’s atmosphere is sometime in July 2018 unless NASA scientists apply for an extension.
