  • Sputnik was lanched into space

    sputnik started the space race between the U.S.A and the soviet union.It was the first artificial satellites to orbit earth.

  • sputnik 2 takes a dog to space

    sputnik 2 show that it is possible to send living things into space. Laika the dog orbits earth with sputnik 2, but has no plans to retern to earth Laika dies in orbit.

  • Luna 1

    Russias Luna 1 is ment to orbit the moon but misses the moon and becomes the first artifacial satellite to get out of earths gravity and orbit the sun.

  • America enters the space race

    Explorer 1 lunches into space now puting the U.S.A in the space race.Its weight was only 31 pounds and discoverd radiation in earths atmosphere.

  • N.A.S.A is created

    America finally gets a offical space program.If N.A.S.A was't created then we would probably not have landed on the moon.

  • First American to Orbit Earth

    the first american orbits earth 3 times and is the oldest person to go into space at 77.

  • Ranger 7 hits the moon

    Ranger 7 is helpful because as it was flying towards the moon it took thousands of pictures which helped scientist to spot landing spots for later missions

  • first space walk

    the first space walk is ten minutes long and is done by a Soviet Cosmonaut by the name of Alexei Leonov.

  • Apollo 11

    Apollo 11 lands on the moon this is a big achievment for the U.S.A and neil arm strong walkes around the moon

  • Apollo 17

    The last mission to the moon is in december, and we will never be back.
