ISS( International Space Station. ) was an artifical satellite. It was manufatured by Boeing. This is important in Space Exploration because it gave the Americans a jump from the Soviets in the Cold War. -
Pluto demoted of planet status
Pluto, the smallest "planet" of the original 9, lost it's planet status on this date. Pluto lost his planet status demoted it to a "dwarf planet''. There is now 3 dwarf planets, Pluto, UB 313, and Ceres. This was important to space exploration because the discovery created a whole new system.
