Albany Congress

Jun 19, 1754

There were two purpose of the Albany Congress. One was to get the Iroquois to agree to fight with them. The second reason was to form a colonial alliance. When they returned back to their colonies, no legistlature would ratify it.

Proclamation of 1763

Oct 7, 1763

The purpose of the Proclamation of 1763 was to prevent the colonist from moving westward. The dividing line was the Applachian Mountians.

Sugar Act

Aug 5, 1764

There was a tax of three cent placed on Sugar and a tax on molasses on the colonies.

Stamp Act

Mar 22, 1765

This was a tax placed on every printed paper that they used.

The Quatering Act

Mar 24, 1765

This allowed soldiers to reside in resident homes during the war.

The Stamp Act Congress

Oct 7, 1765

Delegates from nine out of the thirteen gathered together in New York out of anger about all of the taxes. The main motto was "No taxation without Repersentation."

Boston Massacre

Mar 5, 1770

This was not a battle but more like a riot. CItizens in Boston attacked British Soldiers on the street.

Tea Act

May 10, 1773

This act was unlike the others. It actually lowered the tax on tea.

Boston Tea Party

Dec 16, 1773

The Boston Tea Party was an event where anti british civilians in Boston dresses like Indians and boarded ships. When they were on board, they dumped tea into the harbor.

Intolerable Acts

Mar 31, 1774

The intolerable acts were in response to the Boston Tea Party, The Quebec Act was apart of these acts and also the Boston Harbor was closed.

First Continential Congress

Sep 5, 1774

12 out of the 13 colonies were present. There main goals were to gain the alliance of all colonist and to let Great Britian know the grievences of the colonies.

Lexington and Concord

Apr 19, 1775

This was not a successful battle for Britian. Britian thought this was going to be a suprise attack but spies for the colonies found out and warned everyone. This is where the famous Paul Revere comes in yelling "THE RED COATS ARE COMING"

Second Contiental Congress

May 10, 1775

The second continental congress created alot of new things like a continental army, the printing of money, and a committee to deal with foregin affairs.

Battle at Ninety Six

Nov 10, 1775

This was a small battle taken place in our own state South Carolina. The colonist invaded 96 and sieged loyalist.

Declaration of Independence

Jul 4, 1776

This declared the independence of the colonies from Britian. It succeded and they gained their own independence.
