  • Why salt dissolves in water

    Why salt dissolves in water

We learned that the positive ends of the water molecule attract the negative ions, while the negative ends of the water attract the positive ions. Thus, the ions are pulled away from each other and into the water.
  • Predicting if a salt would dissolve

Predicting if a salt would dissolve

We predicted if salt would dissolve better in water (which has 2 d+ ends and a 2d- end), or alcohol (which has 1 d+ end and 1d- end), designed a procedure, and tested it. Salt dissolved better in water because water has more/strong partial charges, so it attracts the ions more.
  • Lesson 3

  • Molarity

    Molarity

We learned how molarity can be used to describe concentration.
  • Precipitation Lab

    Precipitation Lab

We figured out 4 unknown solutions by seeing when they form precipitates with known solutions.
