Charley begins his journey
Charley signs up at Fort Snelling. -
Boot Camp
Charley and his regiment start getting ready for battle by training everyday. -
Charley's regiment leaves for Manassas
Charley and his regiment leave Fort Snelling on their way to The Battle of Bull Run. -
The Battle of Bull Run
This was the first Battle of Bull Run. Also known as The Battle of Manassas, Charley's regiment was ordered to support Rickett's Battery. The regiment suffered the most casualties than any other. There were 48 killed, 83 wounded, 23 wounded and missing, and 30 missing. -
Battle of Ball's Bluff
Charley was lightly engaged at Edwards Ferry. He never fought in the actual battle. This is where charley attempts to help Nelson. The battle was finished on October 22 1861. -
Fredericksburg
The regiment plundered the town. Charley survived an artillery attack and held his ground against the rebs. This is where Charley traded with the Confederate soldier, and helped the medic with the wall of dead bodies. The battle ended on December 11 1862 -
The Emanicpation Proclamation is issued
President Lincoln issues the Emmanicpation Proclamation. It proclamed nearly three fourths of slaves and freed 50,000 of them immediately. -
The Battle of Gettysburg
The battle started on July 1 1863, but Charley's regiment did not fight until the scond day. On the second day of the battle, the regiment attacked the charging rebs. In this fight 215 men were killed, wounded, or missing. On the third day of the battle, Charley's regiment was on the recieving side of Pickett's Charge where they held their ground and won the battle. Charley was shot on the third day of battle. -
Charley returns home
Charley returns home to his house in Winona, Minnesota. -
Robert E. Lee surrenders
The Civil War is officially over. Now the North and South have to try to become one unitied country once agian. -
Abraham Lincoln assassinated
President Lincoln is shot in the head at Ford's Theater by John Wilkes Booth. This was only two days after The Civil War ended. -
Charley's mom dies
Charley's mom dies from influenza. -
1st Minnesota Regiment is discharged
The 1st Minnesota Regiment was honoribly discharged of duty for The Civil War. -
Charley runs for county clerk and won
After the war,Charley wants to find a job after the war so he runs for county cerk ans won. -
Charley dies
Charley dies from tuberculosis in Minnesota.
