  • The Enlistment

    Charley makes the decision to enlist for the war. Everyone in hios surroundings were expecting it to be over quickly. He thought it would be a good experience. Charley proceeds to lie about his age. Stating he's 21 when in reality is 15.
  • The Battle of Bull Run

    Charley is on the ground firing aimlessly in fear. Massey is struck by a cannonball and becomes decapitated. Many of our soldiers were dead and scattered across the battle field. Charley, upset about everything, blames God.
  • First Minnesota marches south

    The first Minnesota marches all along the south. While passing through, they stole from farms and plantations
  • The Battle of Ball's Bluff

    The First Minnesota did little while at Edward's Ferry. Nelson received a stomach wound, Charley aides him in suicide.
  • The Camp

    The first minnesota was at the camp for three consecutive months. Charley believed the camp almost felt like a small town. One of the nights they were there, Charley traded with a confederate soldier across the creek.
  • The End of the Camp

    The First Minnesota and Charley left the camp.
  • Battle of Fredericksburg

    All the men marched in and captured Fredericksburg. The following day they held picket duty outside of the town.
  • Calvary Charge

    The soldiers were ordered to shoot their horses. Charley was not pleased by this, and later wants to kill everything he encounters. Charley's shoulders were covered in the blood of fellow men, he goes to the medical area, assuming he was hit. The doctors told him otherwise, Charley was to help build a wall to block the cold out of the dead bodies.
  • Gettysburg

    The first two days at the Battle of Gettysburg, Charlie gains a sense of hope, but is shot several times
  • Battle of Kelly's Farm

    Charley most likely wasn't in this battle, he was still recovering from his wounds
  • Hijacking

    When Charley's regiment was on its way home they hijacked the train in Portage City bound for LaCrosse
  • End of the Civil War

    The Civil war ended with Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court. Grant was generous and lets the Confederacy keep the majority of their belongings.
