    John D. Rockefeller was a famous business leader and was the king of oil at that time. The Standard oil created it own transportation it's oil with purchase of pipelines and terminals. Also Standard Oil had a near monopoly of the oil business in the US.
  • Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone

    Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone
    Bell would receive a large amount of lawsuits because other inventors claimed they invented the telephone. Bell also made the first telephone call on January , 1915. 100,000's of people owned a telephone in their house at that time.

    The Ellis Island was a gateway for over 12 million immigrants to the US. Ellis island was the first and largest federal immigrant processing station. Their was also inspections for people had to go through in order to get into the country. If you were sick, or had some sort of disease , you could not get in and had to be sent back to your country.

    The US declared war because of the sinking of the Battleship Maine. In the end it took almost 10 months of war for the Spain to lose. Also because of this lost the Spain lost control over the remains of its overseas empires.

    The "boxers" were a Chinese secret organization that believed if they performed physical exercises it would make them withstand bullets. Also they attacked and killed Chinese Christians and Christian missionaries and other terrible acts. Japan organized a multinational force to crush the rebellion.

    This act was one of the reforms of the Progressive Era. The act was enforced because there were around 10 or more people in one crowded apartment. This cause the spread of several diseases and other deadly results.

    NAACP was founded by an interracial group of activists. The NAACP tried to equal right and eliminate racial prejudice. It also achieve goals through judicial system and other peaceful protests.

    America were one of Britain's trading partners before the start of the war. Although the US joined allies with Britain and other countries to fight WW1. Several US ships were sunken or damaged during a route to Britain.

    Women got the right to vote.
    It took a long time of pain and suffering in order for all women would get their right to vote. WW1 also dramatically changed women's role in society. During the campaign they would go on hunger strikes and other things in order to be heard by the people.
