    Finding a definitive date for the origin was extremely difficult. Most sources say in the 1960's is when it began. Then was the development of ARPANET. This led to different discoveries of the internet we have now.

    AOL was originally called Control Video Corporation (CVC) and began in 1983 founded by Bill von Meister. When it became AOL Meister left the company and a group of men switched over to AOL.

    Netflix was founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Rudolph as a way to rent movies on DVD. Ten years later in 2007 Netflix began streaming TV shows and movies as it does now.

    LinkedIn was founded in 2003 by Reid Hoffman, Jean-Luc Vaillant, Allen Blue, Ronstantin Guericke, and Eric Ly. They created this company on the idea of a new way of working and a new way of building a company.

    WordPress was created for people to post their thoughts on a social forum. It was started for people to share ideas with people from all of the world.

    Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. At the time he was a student at Harvard. Within Facebook's first 24 hours it had 1,200 students signed up. From there its popularity grew. It wasn't until September of 2006 that you could sign up for Facebook outside of an educational use.

    Twitter was founded in 2006 by Evan Williams, Noah Glass, Jack Dorsey, and Biz Stone. The company began as a podcasting site but once Apple announced iTunes would include a podcasting section they decided to switch ideas. Originally the name was even going to be Odeo for the podcasting but then switched to Twttr which became twitter.

    The first iPhone was released in 2007 and created by Steve Jobs. He had announced the iPhone at the Macworld convention in January of that year.

    Spotify was founded in 2008 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon in Stockholm, Sweden. It was made for people to be able to affordably be able to listen to music.

    Pinterest was launched in by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp, and Paul Sciarra. The idea of Pinterest was developed in January of 2009. By 2011 Pinterest was named one of Time magazines "50 Best Websites of 2011." The mobile app was launched one year after creation, coming to the iPad in August of 2011 and the mobile app in September 2011.

    Instagram was founded in 2010 by Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom. within two years it had over one hundred million users.

    Snapchat was founded in 2011 by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy. The app was originally called Picaboo later being changed to the name we know it as now.
