  • Prohibition/18th Amendment

    Prohibition/18th Amendment
    Prohibition was enacted to reduce crime and corruption. It banned the sale, transportation, and manufaturing of alcohol. This just brought people to go against the law and find and consume alcohol. The people would sale the liquor and would then make a profit from it. Bootleggers which were people that sold the beer to people illegally came in after the 18th amendment was passed. Also gangsters and speakeasies came from it too.

    The Ku Klux Klan was a loosley oraganized group of political and socail terrorists. The KKK were rascists who believed that whites were better and that blacks should stay as slaves.They werent just against black though, they also targeted immigrants, catholics, and jews.

    Flappers were women mainly in Hollywood. They flaunted their boyish figure. Wore knee-length skirts, smoked and wore makeup. Flappers became influential symbols of women's sexual and social emancipation. Young immigrant women in cities eagerly participated in this new fashion. they followed the lead of actress Clara Bow

    Jazz
    Originated in New Orleans. No ceraitn date it was invented in. Jazz came from blues, ragtime, and other popular forms. Jazz musicians developed an ensemble style in which they keep a rapid ragtime beat. Majority of Jazz musicians were black.

    American fims made up 95% of the movies screened in Britain. Hollywood produced nearly 90% of all films. Large ornate moie theaters attracted both middle-class and working -class audiences.

    Henry ford created a cheaper version of the automobile. The buying of cars contributed to the economic boom. In 1929 americans spent $2.58 billion on automobiles alone. The auto industry also created 3.7 million jobs.

    Fascism means a total authoritative state. In other words dictators came into power. This only happened in a few countries but it was spreading around the world.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt use the invention of the radio to his benefit. He used it as a way to communicate with the people of the U.S to tell them what they are doing to fix the Great Depression.

    National Socialist Party (Nazi)
    This party was under the rule of Adolf Hitler in Germany. Hitlers goal was European domination and world power. He used the Nazi's to try and achieve this goal. They were incharge of all the camps that they sent people too.

    FDR Hundred Days
    Franklind D. Roosevelt used these hundred days to try and fix the Great Depression's issues. During this time he inplemented the New Deal. The New deal gave people jobs, insurance on money, help with banks, and much more.
  • 21st Amendment

    21st Amendment
    Due to all the organized crime after the government enacted the 18th amendment the government knew that they needed to do something to stop all the crime and to start getting money to the government not the gansters.

    The U.S wanted to stay neutral in the war but after Japan attacked Hawaii it set off the U.S and We offially entered the war then. We responed back with an attack on Japan.
