    In August of 2011, UNC women's soccer had begun their preseason workouts. Some of the girls started to joke about the struggles of being a committed soccer player. Not long after, the entire team caught on to the inside joke and it became the seed of great success.

  • The Idea of a Video

    The Idea of a Video
    Midway through season, the three girls who started the "inside joke" realized that many girls can relate to the struggles of soccer. Alli, Casey, and Gabby were inspried to make a comical video about the soccer struggles.
  • Brainstorming

    Season was now over, and the girls were now making a full committment to making this video go viral. Planning took place and they decided to create a video using the locations that all soccer girls use. They also planned to create scripts in the near future so they could start filming right away.

    The scripting has begun! Alli, Casey, and Gabby were on a mission. They started to gather personal comments about soccer, but also started to interview their teammates on any complaints they had about being a committed soccer player.

    Alli, Casey, and Gabby decided that they wanted their video to contain short comics that would demostrate the weird, tacky, and annoying struggles of being a soccer player. They planned to use locker rooms, weight rooms, cafeterias, fields, dorm rooms, and their school to be the main locations for their video. This video was only to conatin dialogues.

    By the end of January, Alli, Casey, and Gabby have selected most of the scenes they'd like to incorporate into the production of their video. They've decided to name their video, "Stuff Soccer Girls Say." They used storyboardthat.com to create their comic.
  • Ready, Set, Action!

    Ready, Set, Action!
    Recording as started and the three girls have hired Joey. He is also a student at UNC and he is the president of the production club at the university. Joey had to revise a couple of the storyboards until they had scripts that would flow smoothly throughout the video. The girls and Joey have announed via Twitter and Facebook that the video is planned to be released on February 20, 2012.

    After reviewing the shots taken, the girls had to make some cuts. There was a lot of unexpected fame coming through social networking and they realized that this video would be viewed by girls of all ages. They needed to edit out some language errors and provocative scenes. There were also some noise issues that arose, and some shots needed to shot again.
  • The Final Cut!

    The Final Cut!
    The final cut hit the YouTube world as expected. Thanks to Alli, Casey, Gabby, Joey, and the teammates, this video was a huge success. From retweets, to reposts, to sharing on Facebook, this video got more than 3 million views in a very short time.

    SoccerGrlProbs Since February 20th to now, the three girls who created the video about soccer girl struggles have mad a huge hit. Millions of girls ranging from 6 years old to college athletes have fallen for the charm of these UNC players. Alli, Casey, and Gabby have started a name and a brand for themselves. They currently have a website up where you can now order apparel with their logos, quotes, and more.
