    Underground Railroad (Part 1)

    March 20, is the beginning of spring which means it is the safest, that is what started the Underground Railroad.
    December 6, is the end date because of the 13th amendment
    being passed that ended slavery.
    This began when slavery was beginning in the South. Many whites in the North did not like that. They started Abolitionists or against slavery and pro-slavery or with slavery.
    The Underground Railroad began because of the North wanting African Americans being slaves. Underground means secret.

    Railroad means many routes through out the South into the North.
    Many ccnductors are White men/women or freedmen/freed slaves. Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, David Walker and many others became free and became abolitionists. Others are white like Thomas Garrett, William Lloyd Garrison, Gerrit Smith, John Brown were white Abolitionists.

    William Lloyd Garrison is a white male abolitionist.
    William was assulting a slave merchant and was put in jail for 2 years and became a abolitionist.
    William created the Liberator or a abolition newspaper
    William also created a abolition group for women over in New England.

    Missouri Compromise
    Henry Clay created the Missouri compromise, but Congress passed it with the 36' 30' line
    The Missouri Compromise was created to keep equal between slave and free.

    The Compromise was created to keep the United States from fighting over slave and free, that is why Missouri went in as slave and Maine became free states.

    Rebelling against slave owners, plantation families, and white people in the south.

    The Compromise of 1850 was created to stop war between the two states. U.S. and Mexico. Mexico signed it and gave the U.S. California and New Mexico. The war was created because of Texas leaving Mexico and joining the U.S. right after

    The Kansas Nebraska act was founded by Stephen Douglas.
    Stephen Douglas wanted to be president, but didn't know how to get Northener and Southener votes. He decided to let the territories vote for themselves. At first, Stephen Douglas thought he did a good job, but he didn't know what was around the corner for war

    Bleeding Kansas began as soon as the territories vote for themselves. The North and the South rushed to Kansas to vote for either Pro or anti-slavery. They didn't agree. The North kept saying that the South was cheating. They had one more vote and the South didn't vote and they got into a big war
  • Dred Scott Case

    Dred Scott Case
    The Day of Dred Scott case was not found. The Dred Scott Case was created because the Scott family was free and was brought back into slavery. Dred Scott was willing to fight against the courts to set his family and himself free. Once they didn't he wanted to go to a higher court. After them he wanted to go to an even higher court. Soon his family was set free after he passed away.
  • Presidential Election of 1860

    The presidential election was against 4 men. Abraham Licoln, John Bell, John C. Breckenridge, and Stephen Douglas. Stephen Douglas wanted to be president and passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act and that lead to a war. John Bell is a pro-slavery man. He is like Breckenridge but not as radical as him. The main election was between Breckenridge and Licoln. Licoln was a anti-slavery. Lincoln was a slave holder, but didn't want it to spread anywhere else besides where it is already at.
  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter
    In the morning of April 12th, the Confederate troops attack Fort Sumter. The fort is located on a small island. Surronding it is water and Confederate bases. As soon as the fort was taken over, Lincoln's shipment of supplies showed up. The ship didn't go near the island.
