It started with surfers wanting to surf the streets. nobody knows who made the first skateboard but we know that the old school skaters made their skateboard out of wooden boxes or decks with roller skate wheels on. in this time they mostly skate downhill and not much grinding and jumping cause that weren't discovered yet.

Now there was freestyle contests, which made the sport look like what it looks like today.

in the mid 90´s, the first skatepark opened in New York City.

Since 2000 skateboarding became more mainstream. More skateparks being made and better boards being build. skaters also began doing fliptricks, air`s and grindings. There are also talks about skateboarding becoming a olympic sport.
