    The first SMS (text) message was sent in December saying "merry Christmas". Engineer Neil Papworth created a very convenient idea that wasn't widely grasped and appreciated until much later.

    DVDs or digital video discs were invented in 1995 and released in 1996. Tech giants Sony and Phillips teamed up to create this revolutionary piece of equipment. It made the transferring of data much easier and more compact, as well as made captions possible.
