Scott met a woman named Zelda. They got engaged but she ending up breaking things off with Scott because of his small salary. -
He quit his small job and returned home and his new novel was later accepted. -

Scott had to pause his novels to pay for Zelda’s breakdown so he wrote short stories once more in order to pay for her to go to a clinic in Switzerland

This was something everyone knew at the time he turned into an alcoholic and he was unable to write commercial stories. He also wasn’t able to stay at one house so his daughter was sent to a boarding school at 14.
