When Gatsby first cam out the book wasn't a hit like his first one, and scot was devastated by that -
Stock market crashed
Caused scot and Zelda to enter the worst phase of their lives, scot the next few years as he watched Zelda loose her mind. At 28 she wanted to be a dancer and practiced so much she went into the hospital for over exhaustion when she came out her mind state still continued to decline. So bad that when her and scot were driving she grabbed the wheel and tried to drive them off a cliff. Doctors then diagnosed her as schizophrenic. -
Tender is the night
Scot struggled writing this for over 9 years, which is understandable because in these years he was struggling to find a cure for Zelda, and taking care of her. -
Tender is the night Released
He was counting on this book to restore him as a writer and his bank account, but the book didn't sell. This was a major set back for scot. -
Alcholic
Drank about 30 bottles a day or a quart of gin a day. This continued until he was taken to a hospital. -
The Crack-Up
Even at his low points he used his pain to write. This is a 3 part series. He confessed his pain to the public through this. -

A publisher wrote in the paper, how pathetic Scot is, and this was the breaking point of his career -
Screen Writter
Just as Scot hit rock bottom he got an offer as a screen writer with Metro Goldwin Mayor. Moved to Hollywood with renewed hope -
Scot and Sheila
Began to date, even though scot is married and older, she couldn't resist. Scot was kind of on edge about the whole thing being married and all. -
Three comrads
Scot was assigned to write this in the fall of 1937, and when It was released in 1938. Scot hated it but everyone else loved it. He felt his script was ruined by the rewrite of the producer, he protested the changes. This was the first and last time Scot got a screen credit. -

Back to drinking
In the scramble of finding work, Scot went back to drinking all day. Sheila who did not drink didn't like this and was appalled by his drunkenness. His drinking led to many violent fights with Sheila -
A job
Lucky to get a job collaborating with Bob schelburg, a young writer thrilled to be working with his idle. Hired to write a film about a carnival, and Scot was watched to not drink, but he still managed to drink. Later on, they both started drinking, and got fired. -
Back to writtting novels
After being fired scot came back to writing novels, and wrote about his Hollywood experiences, Wrote a book called The Last Tycoon -
Health
A heart attack that scared him so bad he stopped drinking. -
Death
spending an evening with Shelia listening to classical music, he got up and collapsed at 44.
