    In 1668 Redi disproved spontaneous generation by sealing a jar and putting moldy meat inside, and kept a jar open. The jar that was open had maggots inside, the jar that was sealed did not.

    Around 1668 Leeuwenhoek ginded lenses to make his first microscope that could magnify 275 times.
