Jennifer's Psychosocial Stage 1-Trust vs. Mistrust
During Jennifer's first year of life, her mother wasn't responsive or sensitive enough to her needs. Jennifer was a fussy baby and during this most important period of a child's life, she wasn't able to build trust with her caregivers because her needs were not being met. In Erickson's first stage of psychosocial development theory, Trust vs. Mistrust will shape their trust issues on if they can trust an important person in their life. -
Jennifer's Psychosocial Stage 4-Industry vs. Inferiority
Jennifer, at the age of 7 years old, has been a part of a gymnastic group for a few years. She enjoys this group because she feels like she belongs and loves playing with children her age. In Erickson's fourth stage, Industry vs. Inferiority, children begin to compare themselves to their peers and start to feel a sense of pride in accomplishments. Or if they feel like they are failing and not measuring up to their peers, they start to have self-esteem and competence problems. -
Jennifer's Psychosocial Stage 6-Intimacy vs. Isolation
Jennifer enters the 6th stage of Psychosocial development when she is in her 20's. She struggles to form close romantic and loving relationships and feels lonely and isolated. Erickson's 6th stage of development is called Intimacy vs. Isolation. Erickson describes this the intimacy as strong and deep romantic relationships and close relationships with friends and family. Isolation is described at poor romantic relationships and few or no relationships with friends and family.
