Stolack took a hit from Stars foward Antoine Roussel late in the game, but no direct connection between the hit and the injury has been made, according to nhl.com. This injury put Stolack on medical leave for knee surgery, forcing the Sharks to start Niemi for the next eight games. Overworked, Niemi began to play worse.
