    Living on the Farm.
    Colt was indentured to a farmer to do chores and recieve an education. The farm was in Glastonbury Connecticut.

    At age 15 Colt returns to his father and begins working at his father's textile factory.

    Samuel built a homemade galvanic cell and advertised as a Fourth of July event in that year that he would blow up a raft on Ware Pond using underwater explosives, although the raft was missed, the explosion was still impressive. Sent to boarding school, he amused his classmates with pyrotechnics. In 1830, a July 4 accident caused a fire that ended his schooling.

    In order to support his early ideas Colt need to make some cash. To make money Colt traveled across the country performing laughing gas demostrations the people would pay to see. They would often times buy a bit too.

    Sarah died in hern childhood from tuberculosis. Margaret died in her child hood. As well as Sarah Ann, who commited suicide.

    Colt patents his first revolver in 1836. Many concept of a revolver was not new but Colt's design added some innovative design features which made it perform much better than it's predecessor's.

    One brother, James, became a lawyer. Christopher, was a textile merchant. A third brother, John C. Colt, a man of many occupations he killed a creditor in 1841 in New York City, he was found guilty of the murder, and committed suicide on the day he was to be executed.

    Colt's company hit rock bottom at multiple points. Early in the compsny they had produced 1000 fire arms that were never sold due to economic recession. With his love of explosives he decided he wanted to start a mining and explosive production company. They flourished, they were making everything everyone wanted.

    His first weapons manufacturing company opened in Hartford. There was also a lot of trees used for wicker furniture production. He took full advantadge of this and created a wicker furniture factory.

    Colt was commissioned as a Colonel by the state of Connecticut on May 16, 1861 in the 1st Regiment Colts Revolving Rifles of Connecticut armed with the Colt revolving rifle. Colt envisioned this unit as being staffed by men over six feet tall and armed with his weapons. However the unit never took the field and Colt was discharged on June 20, 1861

    It is estimated that in its first 25 years of manufacturing, Colt's company produced over 400,000 revolvers before his death.
