Early Life
Suddam Hussein was the son of peasants and born in a village near Tikrit in northern Iraq.The area that Suddam lived in was the poorest in the country and he grew up in poverty. Suddam's dad died before he was born so he moved in with his uncle in Baghdad at an early age.He attended Cairo Law school in 1962-1963 and then continued his studies at Baghdad Law College after the Ba'thists took power in Iraq 1963. He also spent several years in prison after the Ba'thists was overthrown. -

He became chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council and prime minister. He used an extensive secret police establishment to overpower any internal oppositions. One of his goals as president was to replace Egypt as the leader of the Arab world. -

Death sentence
After surviving his assassination attempt in Dujail, Saddam's security forces attack the town, arresting about 1,500 residents. They tortured, and executed about 150 Dujail residents. His actions in Dujail were the subject of the criminal charges and resulted in his death sentence. -

Major fail for Saddam Hussein
In march 17, Saddam and his sons had an ultimatum to leave Iraq or face the American military. In July 22, Uday and Qusay, both Saddams' sons, died in a battle with U.S. troops. Later in December 13, Saddam was captured by U.S. forces in the town of Adwar. He is hiding in a "spider hole." -
