My 50 minutes exposure to English every day begins.

The first time I traveled outside Puerto Rico. I was excited because I was going to meet some family members and people who spoke English.

I traveled to Disney World for a choir competition when I was on 7th grade. I was the youngest of the group and knew and spoke nothing of English. The experience left me with the feeling and need of wanting to understand what everybody was saying.

I wanted to watch the programs my friends were watching. I watch the programs with the dictionary right next to me.

On 11th grade I went to Washington DC with some classmates. It was a very exciting experience. I used the help of a hearing aid where someone constantly translated the conferences. I did understood some of the things they were saying but not a lot. This experience help me take the decision of wanting to understand and speak English.

During my 5 years in the University I had to read a lot of textbooks in English. Since then, I always carried a dictionary to translate some words. Little by little I was building my vocabulary.

When I traveled to Ohio I understood more English and sometimes challenged myself to ask for things in English on stores and gas stations.

My first job as a teacher at Colegio Discipulos de Cristo in Bayamon. I was the Science teacher in the bilingual program.

My husband and I I went on a Cruise to the Caribbean for our Honeymoon. We both were nervous about speaking English in front of everyone else but we had to do it anyway.

When I got married we moved from Bayamon to Arecibo. In Arecibo I became an English teacher for a kindergarten group at Colegio Evangelico Capitan Correa.

The school I was working for sent me to New Orleans for some workshops. I had no one to translate for me, and then I found out I knew more Englsih than what I expected.

I became the kindergarten teacher for the Bilingual School Felix Rosario Rios

After 7 years without studying I decided to certify myself as a bilingual teacher.
