Irish Amateur Closed Championship
By age 16, McIlroy became the youngest person to win the Irish Amateur Closed Championship in 2005. Then proceeded to win the same tournament agian in 2006. This was just the start of a career that would last a lifetime.(PGATour.com) -
The Start of something great
On Septemer 8, 2007, Rory McIlroy turned pro. His first event as a pro was the British Masters. In his second tournament as a pro, he earned thrid place him a spot on the European Tour. -
Dubai Desert Classic
January 9, 2009, McIlroy took his very first PGA victory at the Dubai Desert classic. This was the first victory of mant for McIlroy and was the startng point to a very successful career. (PGATour.com) -

2014- The year a champion came about
After a rough finish in 2013, McIlory came into the 2014 season more detremined than ever. When he won the BMW tournament, it was his first Euro Tournament victory since 2012. After that, Rory couldnt stop winnng. Mcilory had three consecituvie wins in a row in the 2014 season.(golf.about.com) -
Player of the Year
On October 1, 2014 Rory McIlroy was named the PGA Player of the year. Earning this title is very hard to accomplish becasue it is one that is only voted for by the members of the PGA; "Being voted player of the year by your peers is something that's important," ( ESPN.com)
