    Roman Beginnings

  • Founding of Rome Part II

Romulus and Remus had a dispute on who would build a city, Romulus stood on the Palatine when some birds flew over him, he though that it wawas a sign from the gods that he would be the founder of the city. The twins fought, then Remus was killed by Romulus and Rome (named after Romulus) was founded. I can infer that this legend is still told by Romans today.

I can also infer that after the monarchy Rome became an empire.
