    America decided that the new territory would become more states.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Englad recognized America as a country by signing the Treaty of Paris, which gave America all the land from the Atlantic ocean to the Mississippi river.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    American farmers were outraged by the enforcement of tax collections and judgments for debt. These farmers began a rebellion against the state governments. The worst of the the rebellions was in Massachusetts. It was the summer of 1786 that the rebels went to attack the federal arsenal at Springfield. The state militia defeated the rebels. Even though the rebellion had lost, it gave the politicians something to think about, regarding a new government system.
  • Annapolis Convention

    Virginia wanted to meet with all the states to discuss improving the government. Only 12 delegates showed up, so they decided to hold another meeting,
  • Constitutional Convention in Philidelphia

    The delgates met at Independence Hall to discuss changing the Articles of Confederation.
  • The Great Compromise

    A plan that satisfied both the larger state and the smaller states. This led to the Constitution of The United States of America,
