  • Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts are what England passed that the colonies had to buy raw materials from England even if they could get it at a better price somewhere else. If they were bought from another place in Europe then the goods would go through England and be taxed.
  • Molasses Act

    Tax on molasses because it was cheaper than sugar. The British taxed molasses, sugar and rum that was imported. Was now expensive and people could not make a profit.
  • Fort Necessity

    Made because of wanting control of the Ohio territory. George Washington was the man that made the Fort. The French and Native Americans attacked the fort. This defeat forced Washington to surrender, the French then let the soldiers go and they returned to Virginia.
  • French and Indian War

    The war with England (Britain) and French, It was over the land and territory of the Americas and parts of Canada
    08/1756 to 2/1763 The fight over the Ohio River Valley
  • Sugar Act

    Tax on Sugar that actually made the cost of molasses to drop. This was mad to stop the smuggling that has occurred from the tax on molasses. The effect of this was that the smugglers could be seized and held without trial. This violates the trial by jury.
  • Stamp Act

    This was a tax on every piece of paper that the colonists used. Newspaper, wills, playing cards, or any legal documents
  • Declaratory Act

    That England had the right to make decisions in the colonies
  • Townshend Act

    Tax on imports such as glass, paint, tea, lead and paper. This is because of the colonist reaction to the other taxes. The colonist have fought against the taxes that have been imposed on them.
  • Boston Massacre

    Some kids were harassing the British soldiers (calling them names, throwing rocks, snowballs, and shells. Others started and a mob was created. A soldier fell and gun went off. Then shots by fired by the British, 5 people are dead and 3 injured.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This happened because of the taxes and the fact that the tea was only to be bought from England. The added tax that didn't make the tea price go up was causing a monopoly British East India Company
  • intolerable Acts

    Closed the ports on Boston
    British soldiers accused of murder are tried in England
    England took over the government, bringing in their own governor

  • The Quartering Act

    That the British government made the colonist house the soldiers. They had to feed them, let them live in their houses and give them the essentials. Sometimes they took the house and the owner had to leave
  • Quebec Act

    A government was created for Canada all the way down to the Ohio Valley
  • General Gage takes over Boston

    General Gage takes over in Boston to bring the unrest on Boston to a rest. This is made to punish Boston and tell them that Britain is in charge
  • First Continental Congress

    This was the first time that the colonies get together and talk about the rights they have as individuals. They write a letter but get the militia and the boycotts started. If the King had his was this was treason and they would be hung
  • Paul Revere's ride

    The ride that he was telling the colonist that the British are coming. (Lexington and Concord)
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Shot Heard Around The World Colonist told the militia……Gage went to find the weapons: they were gone
    The militia blocked the roads in Concord
    The British win and on to Lexington
    In Lexington the guns and powder were moved and the town was empty
    The colonist there were warned and had the chance to move
    The British were quite upset and started burning buildings
    The Americans came back and the British retreated First Victory for the Americans
  • Hessian Soldiers hired by King George

    King George hires 30,000 German Hessian soldiers to fight with the British solders
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold raised a 400 man militia to seize Fort Ticonderoga in NY near lake Champlain. This was a key location but it also had a stockpile of military supplies
    Ethan Allen of Vermont with the Green Mountain Boys was also planning to attack Ticonderoga, After agreeing to work together Fort Ticonderoga surrendered on May 10, 1775 (bait and switch)
  • The Second Continental Congress

    Getting ready to claim independence from England. Drafting a petition, Olive Branch to ask for peace and independence. But England prepare for war
  • Olive Branch Petition

    The petition for peace and independence from England. Saying that the colonist want peace and protect their rights
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    June 16, 1775- the militia set up posts on Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill, which were across the harbor from Boston

    (important because it is the high ground and have the advantage)
    The militia was low on ammunition and so Colonel William Prescott gave the order, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes”
    Even though the battle took place on Breed’s Hill, it is known as the battle of Bunker Hill
  • Washington takes Boston

    The night of march 16th, 1776, Washington had his cannons into positions overlooking Boston, while the Redcoats were all tucked in
    As the British awoke to find almost 60 cannon pointing at them, and realizing that the cannon could reach them

    The Deceleration Of Independence is signed.
