    text from the document and list of people that signed The purpose of it was to point that they were not going to Virginia anymore and instead to Cape Cod to create their own Government.
  • Petition of Rights

    Petition of Rights
    Rights granted were; protection from unjustr seizure of propert of impisonment, right to trial by jury and protection from unjust punsihments. It was made and signed by Sir Edward Coke. This image shows the orginal petition of rights.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The major players were the French and Indians vs the British colonists. Some of the major battles were faught around the Great Lakes and New England. The British won the war that lasted 7 years.   • Boston Masscre

    Boston Masscre
    It resulted in 5 dead colonists. The Townshend Act increased and enforced this tragedy. Painting of the massacre.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    It was organized by a British Patriot paramiltary group. The British responded by making the Intolorable act of 1774 which destroys the Massechusetts govenment and closed the Boston ports. painting of boston tea party
  • Intolarble Acts

    The Boston Tea Party was the cause of these acts. British closed Bostons ports until they paid for all the tea that was destroyed. It also provised British resricted colonists from any government meetings, British could also house troops in colonists homes and British officials could go back to Brittain to stand trial.
  • First Continental Congress

    The major people involved were George Washington, Richard Henry Lee and Patrick Henry. It took place in Carpenters Hall in Piladelphia and cut off colonial trade with Great Brittain.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord

  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Took place in the State house in Philadelphia, PA. They decided to completely seperate from Great Bitain and become independent. Some of the major colonial leaders involved include; John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Painting of the 2nd continetnal congress
  • Declaration of Independence

    Thomas Jefferson wrote the declartion of independence. The three parts of the Declaration of independence are the preamble, follewed by the list of greviances, and then the actual declaration of independence.
  • Articles of confederation

    John Hanson was the first president under the Articles of Confederation. 3 major failures of the articles of confederation are; no executive head of government, congress didnt have the power to levy taxes over states, and congress couldn't force states to obey laws. 3 major successes were; the settlement of land disputes in the Ohio valley, a stepping stone toward the present constitution, and territorial disagreements were settled.
  • Treaty of Paris

    ourdocuments.govJohn Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay represented the United States in Paris. This allowed the colonists to be able to expand westward. Britain also finally acknowledged the declaration of independence.
  • Start of constitutional convention

    They felt like not enough people showed up to the Annapolis convention, so they called for a larger metting in Philadelphia the next May. The original plan was to make a more financially independent federal government,
