  • French and Indian war

    The Indian war was a 7 year war. Although the fighting started happening in 1754, Britain declared the real war in 1756. This war went on for seven years and ended in 1763. They fought over territory and waterways, beaver trade, religious differences, and control of the Grand Banks.
  • The proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation of 1763 was issued by the British at the end of the French and Indian war. To appease Native Americans by checking the encroachment of European settlers on their lands. Britain issued the proclamation of 1763 to forbid colonists from living west of the Appalachian Mountains. This was to prevent further conflict with the natives.
  • The sugar act

    In 1764 Parliament passes the sugar act. With a goal to raise 100,000 pounds. This act is important in history because it was the first tax on the American colonies.
  • The stamp act

    The stamp act imposed a direct tax on the colonist. The reason they made the stamp act was in an effort to raise funds to pay off debts and defend the vast new American territories won from the French in the Seven Years' of war.
  • Townshend acts of 1767

    This was originated by Charles Townshend and passed by the English Parliament after the repeal of the Stamp Act. It was to collect revenue from every time someone bought glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
  • The Boston massacre

    This was a street fight between a group of British soldiers, and colonists. A total of three people were killed but plenty were injured.
  • Tea act

    In an effort to save the troubled enterprise, the British Parliament passed the Tea Act in 1773.This was so that a company can go straight to the colonies to sell there tea.
  • Boston tea party

    The Boston tea party was a political protest. Because the American colonists were mad at Britain for putting tax on them. They poured 342 chests of tea into the ocean imported by the British East India Company.
  • Intolerable acts

    this was the punishment for the tea party. it had several effects on almost everyone. and it canceled the Massachusetts charter
  • 1st continental congress

    The 13 colonies other than Georgia met in Philadelphia as the first continental congress to organize a resistance
