    French and Indian war

    The French and Indian War pitted the colonies of British America against those of New France, each side supported by military units from the parent country and by Native American allies. The French had won this war.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III in October of 1763 after the end of the Seven Years' War. It forbade all settlement west of a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains, which was delineated as an Indian Reserve.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act of 1764, was a revenue-raising act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain, this was a cause of war because they had put taxes on sugared items, LIKE TEA!!!
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Acts were two or more Acts of British Parliament requiring local governments of the American colonies to provide the British soldiers with housing and food. And this caused war because the colonists had to house and feed the British soldiers and the colonists didn't have a say in it.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a confrontation on March 5, 1770, in which British soldiers shot and killed several people while being harassed by a mob in Boston. This event was heavily publicized by leading Patriots such as Paul Revere and Samuel Adams.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act of 1773 was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain. The principal objective was to reduce the massive amount of tea held by the financially troubled British East India Company in its London warehouses and to help the struggling company survive. This was a cause of war because they TAXED TEA!!!
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the sons of liberty throwing tea into the harbor. This was a cause of war because it was tea from the British to Boston.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act of 1765 was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain which imposed a direct tax on the British colonies in America and required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London, carrying an embossed revenue stamp. This was a cause of war because every paper that was made had to have a stamp on it which meant they had to pay to print.
