The French and Indian War started in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. This war had provided Great Britain with huge territorial gains in North America. The disputes over the subsequent frontier policy paying the war's expenses led to colonial discontent and ultimately to the American Revolution.

When Britain won the Seven Years War and gained a lot of land in North America, this issued the Royal Proclamation of 1763. This prohibited American colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. The Treaty of Paris, granted Britain a good deal of valuable North American Land.

The Sugar Act was an act that was put into effect by the British Parliament. This act was made so that every product that had sugar in it, people had to be taxed for. If you were to buy a pound of sugar for 1 dollar, you would actually have to pay 1 dollar and 50 cents. The people didn't like this act, so they decided to boycott.

The Stamp Act imposed a direct tax on colonists. Specifically, the act required that starting in fall of 1765, legal documents and printed things must have a tax stamp given by commissioned distributers who collected the tax in exchange for a stamp.

The Boston Massacre was a huge street fight that had occurred on March 5th, 1770. This was between a patriot mob that was throwing snowballs, rocks, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. A lot of colonists were killed in this fight. That led to a campaign by speech writers.

The Tea Act was passes by British Parliament on may 10th, 1773. This granted the British East India Company Tea. A monopoly on ta sales in the American colonies. This imposed no new taxes on the American colonies.

The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that happened on December 16th, 1773 n Boston Massachusetts. The American colonists were angry at Britain for imposing "taxation without representation" dumping 342 chests of tea into the harbor.

On September 5th, 1774, delegates from each of the thirteen colonies except for Georgia met in Philadelphia as the 1st Continental Congress to organize colonial resistance to the Parliament's Coercive Acts.
