Road to Revolution (1763-1781)

  • Sugar Act

    British legislation aimed at ending the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies and at providing increased revenues to fund enlarged British Empire responsibilities.
  • Stamp Act

    Legal documents and printed materials had to have a tax stamp that was provided by a commissioned distributors that would collect the tax in exchanged to a stamp.
  • Boston Massacre

    Stared off with a street fight and ended up becoming a massacre between British soldiers and the patriots when the patriots started throwing rocks, sticks, and stones to the British, and the British opened fire.
  • Boston Tea Party

    About 100 Boston colonist disguised as Indians and boarded the ships and smashed open about 342 chests of tea and dumped it into to harbor.
  • First Continental Congress

    All 13 colonies, besides Georgia, Met in Philadelphia to organize a colonial resistance for the Parliament’s Coercive Acts.
