  • Treaty of Paris!

    After winning the French and Indian war, Great Britian controlled a vast territory in North America. To limit settlement of this territory, Britian issued the Proclamation of 1763
  • Parliament passes Sugar Act

    The Sugar act lowered the tav on molases imported by the colonists. Grenville hoped the lower tax would conivince the colonists to pay the tac instead of smuggling. Also the act let officers seize goods from smugglers without going to court. The Sugar act and the other laws being passed angered the colonists, They believed that their rights as Englishmen were being violated.
  • Stamp act protests

    The Virginia assembly passed a resolution a formal expression of opinion declaring it had "the only and sole exclusive right and power to lay taxes" on its citizens
  • Boston Mssacre

    Relations between the redcoats and the Boston colonists grew more tense. Then on March 5, 1770, the tension finally reached a peak.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Three tea ships arrived in Boston Harbor in late 1773. The royal governor, whose house had been destroyed by Stampt Act protesters. refused to let the ships turn back.
  • First Continental Congress meets

    Colonial leaders realized they needed more than boycotts to gain the liberty they sang about in "The bold Americians." They needed the colonies to act together in their opposition to British policies.
  • Battles fought at Lexington and Concord

    At dawn the redcoats approached Lexington. When they reached the center of the town they discovered a group of about 70 minutemen who had been alerted by Revere and Dawes.
  • Ethan Allen captures Fort Ticoderoga

    This happened during the American Revolutionary war, When a small force, of green mountains bay led by Ethan Allen and colonel Benidict Arnold. overcame a small British garrison at the fort and looted the personal belongings of the garrison. Cannons and other arments were sent over to Boston, and used to fortify Dorchester Heights and break the standoff at the Siege of Boston.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill is fought

    About 1,200 militiamen under the command of colonel William Prescott set up foritications at Bunker Hill and nearby Breeds hill, across the harbor from Boston. The British knew what they wanted to do which was the get all of the Americans away from their stragetic locations overlooking the city. In the end the british won the Battle of Bunker hill, Because the Americians ran out of gunpowder and had to with draw (Move or take away somthing from a particular place.)
  • Decleration of Independence signed

    The decleration was singed on July 4th, 1776. The decleration has 4 major parts to it, (The preamble, or introduction, states that people who wish to forn a new country should explain their reasons). The decleration states what Jefferson and many Americians thought were universal principles.
