  • Lexington

    Lexington
    This was the first battle of the American revolution, which happened on April 18-19th of 1775. Here, Paul Revere and others warned the colonists that 700 British troops were coming on their way to Concord; that was when minutemen got prepared to fight quickly. This fight only lasted 15 minutes and ended with the British Troops victorious.
  • Concord

    Concord
    After the British found an empty arsenal in Concord, they decided to march back to Boston. But as they did, a troop of 3,000-4,000 minutemen caught them by surprise and fired at the troops, forcing the British troops to retreat to Boston.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    This was known as the deadliest battle of the American Revolution, with 2,400 British soldiers coming up the hill; colonists began to shoot them down. This ended up with 450 colonist casualties, and 1,000 British casualties. The British came out victorious out of this battle.
  • New York

    New York
    During 1776 in the summer, British troops attempted to take over New York City with 32,000 soldiers. They forced out the Continental Army and ended up taking control of New York City, as they tried to divide the colonies into two parts.
  • Trenton

    Trenton
    The Continental Army, after being pushed out of New York, marched towards Trenton, New Jersey. They went to defeat a group of Hessians, or German mercenaries hired by British troops. This happened in December 1776.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    Militiamen and Continental army troops fought Burgoyne and his soldiers, until they surrounded him at Saratoga. After that, Burgoyne surrendered. This happened on October 17, 1777.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    George Washington and his troops were starving and did not have many supplies in Valley Forge. A lot of the soldiers died but they continued to fight through it and stay camped there. This took place during December, 1777.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis De Lafayette
    In 1779, Marquis was one of the military leaders that was essential to help the Continental Army. Marquis was basically convinced France to give French reinforcements, which he led in Virginia.
  • Philadelphia

    Philadelphia
    Robert Morris was appointed superintendent of finance and with his associates, he raised money for the Continental Army’s salary. This happened in the year 1780.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    The Colonists and the French attacked Cornwall’s camp in Yorktown, blocking his way to the bay to escape, and attacking them from land. After this, Cornwall surrendered on October 19. This happened in the year 1781.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was basically a signed document where the United States of America declared its Independence officially, and stated that they were now an independent nation, stating what parts they owned. This was signed in September of 1783.
