    700 british soldiers marched towars Concord. They reached Lexington, and found 70 minuteman armed with pitchforks and muskets. Raplh Waldo Emerson said" By the rude bridge that arch the flood, their flag to april breese unfurl'd, here once embattled farmers stood, and fired the shot heard around the world."
    The British won Lexington, while the colonists won Concord.

    Nathan Hale, a 24 year old American Lt. spied for Washington duting the New York campaign. The british cought him, they swifley condemmed him to death. Hale last words reflect his patrotic spitite" I only regret that i have but one life to lose for my country."
  • Victory at Trenton

    Washinton came up with a very daring strategy. Washington planned to launch a surprise attack on the british camp site at Trenton, New Jersey. As his troops prepare for battle, Washington ordered Thomas Paine's new pamphlet " The Crisis ' to be read to them it said this;'There are the times that try mend souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the survise of there country; but e that stands it now, deserve the love and thanks of every man and women."
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga
    Three weeks after General Burgoyne and his troops arrived in Saratoga, the Americans attacked. The British army lost hundreds of soldiers. When they attempted to retreat to Canada, the Americans blocked every possible exit. Eventually, Burgoyne surrendered, reporting the first major defeat on the British army. The Americans took at least 6000 British soldiers

George Clark of Virginia led the volonters to the Ohio Valley.And the Volonteries won and the british became weak.

    Arnold tried to turn the fort on West Point over to the British. When Arnold tried to deliver a message to the British, three Patriots intercepted it. They gave Washington the evidence in Arnolds own handwriting. Arnld became a British general.

  • Yorktown

    Was the last revolutionary battle, the Americans trapped General Cornwallis. On October 17, 1781 Cornwallis wrote to Washington requesting a cease-fire. Two days later, the British offically surrenderred.

    Said that Great Bitain would acknowledge the independance of the colonist and romove thier troops from american soil immdtely. In addition, the treaty set new boundies for the United States and all of the land west of the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River. It extanded from Canada in the north, to Flordia in the south.
