  • Proclamation of 1763

    The end of the French and Indain war caused much celebration within the colonies and the Proclamation of 1763 closed the frontiwer of colnial expansion. The King presented this idea to calm the worried Indians, who were fearful about their losing their land. The Proclamation stated that all lands west of the heads of all rivers that flowed into the Atlantic Ocean from the West of North-West were off-limits to the colonists.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act declared that any paper that was wriiten, engrossed, printed etc. was required to have a stamp which could cost up to two shillings, which was a lot.
  • Quatering Act

    The Quatering Act is when colonists were required to provide housing, food, water and clothes for all British Soldiers. This created an uproar, as it was hard enough to provide for a single family with these things, let alone a family and a good number of soldiers.
  • Townshed Act

    The Townshed Act was when taxes were put on things like glass, lead, paint, oil, paper and tea. Colonists tehn started a non-importation agreement and British-trade dried up.
  • Boston Massacre

    This was the killing of 5 colonists by British Regulars, as a result of the growing tension because of the Townshed Act.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty was a organization the Patriots started in the Northern American Colonies. The organization was formed to protect the rights of the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Dressed as Indians, colonists deystroyed the entire shipment of tea send over by East India Company. They did this to show them protesting the new tea tax, that they did not authorize.
  • Sam Adams

    Sam Adams
    From 1774 to 1781 SAmuel Adams was a very important role in the Continental Congress, and he also signed the Treaty of Paris.
  • Loyalists

    Loyalists were American Colonists who were loyal to Great Britian during the war.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    All colonies sent a delgate to go and attend, where they would later protest taxes due partly because of the Tolerable Acts. Here they cut off all trade with Great Britian unless the Tolerable Acts were abloished.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Tolerable Acts were a series of laws passed by the British Parliment in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. These were also major keys to the Revoluntionary War in 1775.

    Common Sense is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. This states the advantages for freedom, and inspired people to declare and fight Great Britian for freedom. It was a immediate sensation and came out at the beginning of the Rev. War.

    Benedict was a American General during the Rev. War who orginally fought with America, then switched to the British side.
  • Paul Revere

    Paul Revere
    On this night, Paul Revere rode through the night to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams that Bristish troops were coming to arrest them.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concrd was the first military enganment of the American Revoutonary War.
  • John Adams

    John Adams was the second president of the United States, and the first Vice President. He also signed the Declaration of Independence.
  • Dec. of Independence

    The Dec. of Independence was when the thirteen colonies were officially announced as American states and no longer apart of Great Britian.
  • Patriots

    They wanted their own country and freedom from Britian. They wanted their own country called the United States.
  • Tomas Paine

    Thomas was a inspiration to the patriots to declare independence from Britian, and he also wrote two pamphlets that helped spark the insperation in the patriots.
  • Hessians

    During the American Rev., Germany spilt into principalities, and the largest group was by far the Hessians. They then had them fight for the British as they did not have enough soilders.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga were two battle fought eighteen days apart on the same battle field. In the end the British General Burgutnes surrendered, knowing his fate if he didn't. This battle also lead to Spain joining the war on the American side.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    George Washington headed into this battle with a army of 17.000 men while British General Cornwallis entered with 9,000 men. In the end the Americans won this battle, ansd it was a very important battle in the Rev. War.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was when people such as Benjamin Franklin, Jack Jay, and John Adams signed the treaty, ending the American Revolutionary War.

  • Martha Custis Washington

    Martha was the first wife of George Washington. She was known as "Lady Washington".
  • Lord Cornwallis

    Mr. Cornwallis is best remembered for leading his troops in the American War of Independence. In the end he surrendered.
  • Abigail Adams

    Abigail was the wife of John Adams (second president) and her son, John Quincy Adams later became the sixth president. She is also faous for the many letters she wrote to her husband while he was in Philadelphia.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jeffferson was a founding father of the United States, the third president and he also signed the Declaration of Independence.
    He was a key role to the history of America for these reasons.
