  • John Locke(Social Contract and Natural Rights)

    A British philosopher of the 17th century. He had strong beliefs of human nature and he creating a series of written documents stating the basic human rights of the citizens which later effected the people because Thomas Jefferson saw them and put it in the Declaration of Independence.
  • French Enlightenement

    In 17th and 18th century there were ideas concerning God, reason, nature, and humanity and it impacted the colonies to have their own opinion, and ideas to becoming their own nation from Britain leading to the separation.
  • George Washington

    Leader of the Continental Army during the American Revolution War. The impact he had was leading the colonies to victory against the British and later was the first President of the new nation
  • Thomas Jefferson

    HA creator Declaration of Independence and served in the Virgina Legislature, and the Continental Congress, while being the governor of Virginia. The impact he on the colonies was finally declaring the American Colonies free of the British authority. Later became the third U.S President
  • Lexington and Concord

    Main starts of the Revolutionary War. On April 18th soldiers had marched to Concord in order to seize an arms cache. The impact it had was showing the British that unfair behavior will not be tolerated in the colonies.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The colonies first attempt representative self government and it composed of the delegates of the thirteen colonies. The impact it had was raising armies for war between the British, appointing diplomats, and writing up treaties.
  • Bunker Hill

    This was early in the Revolutionary war, and is where the British had defeated the Americans. The impact it had was bringing casualties against the enemy, and providing them with a huge confidence boost. Overall benefitting the enemy more than the colonies.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    This was the final attempt by the colonists to avoid going to war with Britain and it stated the colonists pledged their loyalty to the Crown, and had established their rights. The affect it had was to try and appease King George III in order to avoid further conflict between the colonies and the British.
  • Declaration of Independence

    This document contains the complaints of the colonists against the British King, and it contains the arguments of the colonists in which they explained why they wanted to be separate from the British. The impact it had was freeing all American colonies from the British rule.
  • Trenton

    This battle is where George Washington's raid across the Delaware River had crushed the Hessian Army. The impact it had was two victories in 10 days, this also led George Washington to defatting a formidable garrison of Hessian mercenaries.
  • Princeton

    The British had lost control of New Jersey, and retreated back to New York. The impact this had was defeating the British army as a victory for the colonies, mainly NJ.
  • Saratoga

    During the second year of the Revolutionary War where two battles fought eighteen days apart was a victory for the Continental Army. The impact it had was being a major turning point as a victory for the colonies and encouraging them alot and then lead to the French, Spanish, and Dutch to join their cause.
  • Valley Forge

    This was the location of the winter encampment of the Continental Army under General George Washington command and it was a harsh winter, 6 months, of the soldiers and this was going to be a day's march away from Philadelphia. This keep Washington in charge ofter the colonies had no trust in him after many defeats.
  • France (Treaty of Amity & Commerce, Treaty of Alliance)

    This recognized the colonies as an independent nation, and had encouraged trade between France and America and the Treaty of Alliance made an military alliance against Great Britain with France. The impact it had was an alliance between France and the United States if fighting broke out between the French and British they would help.
  • Spain

    Spain at the time was very powerful and the impact of Spain was declaring war on the British as an ally for the French which helped the American colonies giving them more supplies, and weapons.
  • Cowpens

    This was a American victory which slowed down the British efforts to invade North Carolina. The impact of this was taking little effect for the Americans, but alot for the British and gave the colonies more confidence.
  • Yorktown

    This is where Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington, where the Americans trapped the British in Yorktown. The impact it had was ending the Revolutionary War. The end
  • Treaty of Paris 1783

    This was signed by the America and the British Representatives ending the War of the American Revolution. The impact it had was settling the separation from British and America. Independeceeee
  • English Enlightenment

    The age of reason, the start of America and ideas that were being created by philosophers about reason, the scientific method, and progression that characterized them. It impacted them by persuading the good in the world.
